Developing an online collaborative Advanced LCA course for graduate students

9-10:30 AM 1.5 Hours (2 CEUs)

Instructor: Amy E. Landis

Let’s co-develop and co-teach an advanced LCA course together! This workshop is for LCA instructors who would like to collaboratively develop an advanced LCA class for graduate students. Many of us teach formal LCA classes that cover the basics, and we often teach advanced LCA topics outside of the classroom. By collaborating, we could cover more in-depth and advanced topics and simultaneously minimize our individual course preparation time by sharing the workload for course development. Bring whatever topic you’re interested in developing or teaching to the workshop. Advanced LCA topics that we will discuss integrating into our course may include: LCA visualization, integrating GIS into LCA, machine learning and big data to generate LCIs, using bench scale data for LCAs, disaggregation of EIO-LCA, Monte Carlo Analysis for quantifying uncertainty & variability, methods for anticipatory LCA of emerging and nascent technologies, developing new LCIA categories, and using R for custom LCA models.

Outcomes from this workshop include: connecting a community of advanced LCA educators, curating an online resource for advanced LCA, developing an advanced LCA syllabus, and determining the logistics of online collaborative education. Bring your laptop and your advanced LCA course materials!
